Peace Picnic 2019

On 6th June 2019 a Peace Picnic was held with 400 school children and Friends of the Peace Orchard to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day and celebrate the achievements of Cardinal Newman school students who helped design and create the Orchard. The event was attended by the Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Linda Bigham, and showcased new seating, footpaths, plaques and signs, some of which were designed and made by the students. Activities included a football tournament, bird box making, puppet making and the planting a symbolic lilac tree. Unfortunately, the inspiration behind the project, Dennis Davison, was not well enough to attend.
